The Commit
Navy

“It’s always been a dream of mine to wrestle for the Naval Academy, and I’ve always wanted to wrestle for coach [Cary] Kolat.

Last year when colleges could reach out to incoming juniors, I didn’t hear from the Naval Academy. I was hearing from Campbell, and I went on my visit out there.

Then I heard coach Kolat was leaving, and the Monday after he announced he called me and told me that he wants me at USNA. I was thrilled to hear that because two of my dreams lined up perfectly.

You can’t ask for a better education than the USNA. An Ivy League education for the next four years for free, and I get to serve my nation afterward.”

The Service
“My dad and most of my uncles were public servants, and I wanted to follow in their footsteps.”

The Others
Air Force, Arizona State, Coast Guard, Campbell

The Keys
“Great academics, small class sizes, and the program positivity were big for me.”

The Fit
“A well-spoken, very respectable young man who is goal-driven and very hard working.

I’ve placed at Fargo twice, placed at FloNationals, and have beaten ranked kids from 113-120.”

“When I get out there, I only want to win and do it in dominant fashion. I want to go into the danger zone and put points on the board.”

The Now
“I feel confident on my feet and on top, I just need to be able to get out on bottom no matter who I’m wrestling.”

“Going undefeated, winning big matches, and having fun.”

The Future
“I want to graduate in cyber operations and be the first Hispanic midshipman to win an NCAA title.”

“I did whatever I could every day to be the best me I can be.”

“I’m planning on going to NAPS [Naval Academy Preparatory School] first. I think I’ll be a 125 for three years.”

The Fun Fact
That use to live in the DMV [D.C., Maryland, Virginia] about an hour and thirty minutes from the USNA. Then I moved to Arizona, and now going to be returning to the DMV.”
